Inspired by the big red book
Every life deserves a book. This is yours.
This Is My Life .online is a guided AI interview that helps you record the people, places and moments that made you — on your own or with friends and family — and turns it all into your very own printed big red book.
My Life Your name here
How it works
Three chapters from memory to bookshelf
You don't need to be a writer. You just need to answer questions — the way you'd tell a friend.
Talk
Our AI interviewer guides you through your life story, one warm, well-timed question at a time — childhood, first jobs, love, loss, triumphs and the everyday details that make a life yours. Pause anytime; it remembers exactly where you left off.
Gather
Invite friends and family to add their side of the story. Upload photographs, letters, tickets and keepsakes; the interviewer asks about each one, so every artefact comes with the story behind it.
When your story is ready, we typeset it beautifully and send it to our print partners. A few weeks later, your own big red book arrives — cloth-bound, gold-embossed, made to be passed down.
The guided interview
Questions that unlock stories you forgot you had
The interviewer adapts to your answers, following the threads that matter and gently returning to the ones you skip.
What you get
A life, properly documented
A guided AI interview
Hundreds of thoughtfully sequenced questions across every era of your life, adapting as you answer.
Photos & artefacts, with their stories
Every image you upload gets its own mini-interview, so captions become memories, not just dates.
Friends & family contributions
Send invitations and let the people who know you best add the stories you'd never tell about yourself.
Key facts, kept straight
Dates, places, names and family connections are captured as you go — a factual record alongside the stories.
A private, editable book
Your story lives in your account, private by default. Reread it, reorder it, rewrite it whenever you like.
Your own big red book
When you're ready, order a professionally printed, cloth-bound edition — with your name in gold on the cover.
Your first question is waiting.
It takes two minutes to sign up, and a lifetime of stories to fill the pages. Better start now.

Why we built This Is My Life .online
For decades, This Is Your Life gave a lucky few a night they never forgot: friends and family stepping out from behind a curtain, old stories retold, and a big red book to take home at the end. We watched those moments and thought the same thing millions did — everyone deserves that. Not just the famous. Your grandmother. Your dad. You.
The trouble is, documenting a life is hard. Blank pages are intimidating, memories arrive out of order, and the people who could help live far away. So most life stories never get written — they get told once at a wake, and then they fade.
This Is My Life .online exists to fix that. Our AI interviewer does what the best interviewers have always done: it asks the right question at the right moment, listens properly, and follows the thread. You just talk. Friends and family can join in from anywhere, adding their memories and photographs to yours. And when the story is told, we do what the old show did best — we put it in a big red book, bound to last generations.
What we believe
Every life is a good story
You don't need fame or drama. Ordinary lives, told honestly, are the most moving books ever made.
Your story belongs to you
Everything you record is private by default. You choose who contributes, who reads, and what gets printed. You can export or delete your story at any time.
Paper outlives platforms
Websites come and go. A well-made book on a shelf gets opened by grandchildren. The printed book is the point, not an afterthought.
Who we are
We're a small team of writers, engineers and family-history obsessives based in Yorkshire, England. Between us we've digitised shoeboxes of photographs, interviewed our own grandparents (some just in time), and become quietly convinced that helping people record their lives is about the most worthwhile thing software can do.

Privacy & cookie policy
Last updated: 4 July 2026. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and the rights you have over it.
1. Who we are
This Is My Life .online (the "Service") is owned and operated by CohnReznick Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 06008574, with its registered office at 65 London Wall, London, England, EC2M 5TU ("we", "us", "our").
CohnReznick Ltd is the data controller of the personal information described in this policy. To contact us about anything in this policy, email privacy@thisismylife.online or write to our registered office address above, marked for the attention of the Data Privacy Manager.
2. What this Service does with your story
The Service exists to help you document your life. That means the information you give us can be unusually personal: memories, family history, photographs, and stories from friends and relatives. We treat all of it under one simple principle — your story belongs to you. It is private by default, we never sell it, and we never use it for advertising.
3. The information we collect
Account information. Your name, email address and password (stored in hashed form) when you create an account, and your responses to setup questions such as whose life the book is about.
Your story content. Your answers to interview questions, photographs and images of artefacts you upload, captions and stories attached to them, and edits you make to your book. If you invite friends or family to contribute, we also collect their names, email addresses and the content they add.
Special category data. Because a life story is wide-ranging, the content you choose to record may reveal information such as health, religious beliefs, ethnic origin, political opinions or sexual orientation — about you or about people you mention. We only process this because you have deliberately chosen to include it in your story; our lawful basis is your explicit consent, which you may withdraw at any time by deleting the relevant content or your account. Please be thoughtful when writing about living people other than yourself, and where practical, tell them or invite them to contribute.
Order information. If you order a printed book, we collect your delivery address and order details. Payment is handled by a regulated payment processor; we do not store your full card details.
Technical information. Standard logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps) and the cookies described in section 9.
Correspondence. Messages you send us via the contact form or by email.
4. How we use it, and our lawful bases
Under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) we must have a lawful basis for each use of your information:
Providing the Service — creating your account, running your guided interview, storing your story, enabling contributor invitations, and fulfilling print orders. Lawful basis: performance of our contract with you.
AI-assisted interviewing. Your interview answers are processed by artificial-intelligence systems in order to generate the next questions, organise your story into chapters, and help typeset your book. This processing happens only to deliver the Service to you. We do not permit our AI providers to use your story content to train their models. Lawful basis: performance of our contract; explicit consent for any special category data within your story.
Service communications — emails about your account, security, progress reminders you have opted into, and responses to your enquiries. Lawful basis: contract and legitimate interests.
Keeping the Service safe and improving it — security monitoring, debugging, and aggregate (non-identifying) analysis of how the Service is used. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.
Legal obligations — keeping records we are required to keep, for example for tax and accounting. Lawful basis: legal obligation.
We do not use your personal information for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you.
5. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers who help us run the Service, under contracts that require them to protect it: cloud hosting and storage providers; AI infrastructure providers (for the interview and typesetting, as described above); our payment processor; our print and bindery partners (who receive your book content and delivery address only when you place a print order); and email delivery providers. We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or in connection with a sale or reorganisation of our business (in which case this policy would continue to apply to your story).
We never sell your personal information, and we never share your story with advertisers. Contributors you invite see only the questions and content you choose to share with them.
6. International transfers
Some of our providers process data outside the UK. Where they do, we ensure an adequate level of protection through UK adequacy regulations or appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
7. How long we keep it
Your story and account information are kept for as long as you keep your account — a life story is meant to last, so we do not delete it while you want it. If you delete content, it is removed from live systems promptly and from backups within 90 days. If you delete your account, your story is deleted on the same schedule. If your account is inactive for a long period we will contact you before taking any action. Order and correspondence records are kept as long as needed for legal and accounting purposes (normally six years).
8. Your rights
You have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; have inaccurate information corrected; have your information erased; restrict or object to certain processing; receive your story in a portable format (data portability — you can export your book from your account at any time); and withdraw consent at any time where consent is our basis. To exercise any right, use your account settings or contact privacy@thisismylife.online. We respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to resolve your concern first.
9. Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use them as follows:
Strictly necessary cookies — keeping you logged in, remembering your cookie choice, and security. These are required for the Service to work and are set without consent, as permitted by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
Preference cookies — remembering settings such as where you left off in your interview. Set only with your consent.
Analytics cookies — helping us understand, in aggregate, how the Service is used (pages visited, time spent, where visitors leave) so we can improve it. Our analytics is first-party: the data goes only to our own servers, never to a third-party analytics provider. Set only with your consent.
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. You can change your choice at any time via the cookie settings link in the footer, and you can also delete cookies through your browser settings.
10. Children
The Service is intended for adults. You must be 18 or over to create an account. Stories naturally include childhood memories and family photographs including children — as the account holder, you are responsible for having appropriate permission to include content about others.
11. Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and regular review of our providers. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so please use a strong, unique password.
12. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes we will notify you by email or a prominent notice on the Service before they take effect, and update the date at the top of this page.
13. Company information
